Prettyyy Lliighttss

I usually write my own reviews but lastfm sums Pretty Lights up perfectly:
They emit a strong mechanical hum that fills the emptiness provided by time and divided by imagination. They manipulate the world around, illuminating the dark into a breathing electronic cityscape, casting shadow that carve dusty yesterday into a reanimated paradise.

They always put on a good show. 3D glasses are pretty much an essential accessory to make those pretty lights twinkle jusst riighht,

Turning us into monsters. It's all desire.

Forgot how good the Hot Chip remix of the Gorillaz' Kids With Guns was until it came on shuffle today. It's damn hard to make any gorillaz song better than it originally was that's why I usually don't care for elementary remixes but there's something different about Hot Chip that makes the groove factor too fucking good. They put a spooky twist on it that leaves you on edge waiting for the next beat to drop.

Give me the final piece that holds the puzzles end, of all the billions of stars that are the dreams of your friends

The Magic Wands are not only super chill but they have a crazy story as well. The duo Chris and Dexy met outside a concert in LA and re-connected over the internet where they collaborated and wrote songs about eachother while he was in Nashville. He flew to LA and told her to pack up for a trip across country.

"Get up off the floor, like a tiger you can climb. Ever get the feeling your the only one I could love in the tribe."

Just surrender yourself to the rhythm and leave this world behind.

Just discovered Netsky for the first time today and I must say my mind is blown. His songs are cutting edge and flow with such ease. Netsky's Memory Lane has a dangerous edge to it. Netsky makes drum&bass deep and soulfoul. I'm a sucker for good fucking bassline and the second the bump hit my chest I was hooked. He's perfectly blended the right amount of chill factor with danceability.

Badass Basnectar

What do I love about Bassnectar? Essentially: EVERYTHING. This is kinda what I picture heaven looking like.

Let me take you on a trip , a journey full of sound and beats one that will lead you down, wayyy dowwnn.

Logistic's The Trip isn't solid, it's liquid as hell. The beat flows like a babbling brook. Basically anything Logistic mixes is full of nasty bass kicking and infectious groovability. I'm usually more into trance and progressive house than drum an bass but Logistics has mastered it and Matt Gresham I hail king.

Sunday Morning Chill Zone

John O'Callaghan's Never Fade Away is the first track featured on Armin Van Buuren's State of Trance 2009 Continuous Beach Mix. Used to listen to this during my nightly runs on the beach. There would be nights I was the only one out there running by the moonlight and It would leave me feeling like i was the only person the planet. It gave me the perfect amount of energy yet left me with such peaceful tranquility. The sound of ocean waves mixed with hypnotizing vocals and serene soundscapes leave the body gently rolling in sync with the waves. The best thing about trance music is the pure ecstasy it creates and the sensations of being high just from the beauty of the music itself.
Carry on through the night, tomorrow you’ll find a healed heart and a calming mind, a ray of light this world will not decline.

It's the magical mystery kind

She got jumper cable lips, she got sunset on her breath. I inhaled just a little bit, now I got no fear of death

if you're having one of those mornings where you don't want to crawl out of bed because your dreams were just that fucking amazing, throw this on and it might help ease the pain. Eddie Sharp and the Magnetic Zero's 40 Day Dream will leave you in a state like the title reads. The Magnetic Zero's have a whispy magical feel and a tone that warms the soul. Feel good music for sure. This would be featured on my soundtrack to life,

Sun is shining, the weather is sweet. Make you wanna move your dancing feet

The album Marley Shakedown is all upbeat remixes of Bob's timeless songs. Perfect combination of rasta cool reggae and electrifying energetic beats. Sure to cure a case of the Monday Blues.

Now I meet you on the street, harmlessly breaking rules we meet

Hot Chip's Boy From School is an electropop singalong classic. Hot Chip is not only known for their driving beats but also their ability to weave in emotion with the intimacy of their lyrics. Their new album One Life To Stand sounds lackluster in comparison to their previous works, but they still managed to produce a few synthesizing singles that will keep their fans from straying.

Sunday Morning Chill Zone

For those of you feeling ROUGHH still from last night, here are some chill out songs that might help you recover and restore peace after a crazy weekend. sayCeT has perfected the art of being able to mold a mood and create a soothing audio ambience that delights the ears.

Oh well, the devil makes us sin but we like it when we're spinning in his grip

Gui Boratto's remix of Massive Attack's Paradise Circus= Euphoria. He makes the already hauntingly beautiful track that much more addictive. Best when the bassl rolls in around 2:05. Lay back, light some incense, draw the shades and zone out.

The only thing that puts me out is the drive inside me

The problem people often have with house music is the annoyance of songs being "too long" or getting bored with waiting for the highly anticipated buildup. Personally, I think patience is a virtue and like a good fucking orgasm, the buildup is the best part and anxiously awaiting the peak is oh so necessary to make the final production that much more explosive. Marcel Wood's Inside me is the perfect example of this. Wait till minute 2:41 and you'll be blown away. Good things come to those who wait. ;)

Don't feel anything could bring me to the ground.

Been a long time since a federal dime made a jukebox sound like a mirror in my mind

Fix my thoughts , throw my hopes like a juggernaut walks.
A little old school Beck to pump up your saturday morning. The thing you gotta love about Beck is his element of surprise. You never really know what he's gonna come up with next. He produces creative beats that can't really be classified under one category. In Cell Phone's dead he creates a lost-in-the-desert head trip infused with spiky keyboards and tribal drums accompanied by quirky hip-hop vocals.

She was thicker than the kickoff supersonic

Zero 7 has to be one of my current favorite bands. Ever since heir epic album Simple Things was released, Zero 7 has raised the bar for the chill music genre pairing hypnotic choruses with downbeat drowsy-free vibes. Danger Mouse 's remix gives their classic track Somersault a more upbeat hip hop vibe without tarnishing it's original splendor.

I’ve seen you walk in front of me, that body’s making it hard to breathe.

You've got the fever and you know you can't let go cuz your body's movin' zone and the music's in the zone.

Yuksuk’s So Down is like instant crack. It doesn’t matter where you are, when this comes on you’ll start bustin’ moves you never knew possible. Straight disco.

Baby I could rule the world with a girl like you on my arm

I can't seem to post enough about The Phenomenal Handclap Band's new album. They bring back so many core sounds modern day music has been missing. They have such a wide range of different sounds and styles and they somehow manage to make it work perfectly. If you're more in to techno, check out the clock opera remix of Baby as well.

You know I'm giving it up, don't you ever say stop. If it takes us all night, Odysseyyy

Can't get enough of that bass line. Woolfy's Odyssey mixes the perfect balance of deep motown funk roots with contemporary dj spins. Could groove to this beat all day,

So light is her footfall, she walks like a bird, she's an angel

My obsession with Air started the first time I heard the seducing melody of Playground Love. My infatuation with this band seems to just keep growing by the day. Whether you are won over by the strikingly moody guitar riffs or the angelic piano notes pumping your veins with musical morphine, So Light Is Her Footfall delivers the perfect balance making you yearn for more.

I'm going to a pretty place now where the flowers grow, I'll be back in an hour or so.

Can't get enough of this. Chill worthy ear candy sure to make your spine tingle. Awesome remix of Radiohead's already stellar track Kid A. Love listening to this in the morning before I get out of bed. Pretty much guarantees I'll wake up on the right side.

Warning: this song may result in skinny dipping

As soon as my ears submerged into the rhythm of Delorean's Stay Close I jumped into the deep end. It’s time like this I really wish I was a mermaid.

Let's start acting like we don't know when to stop

The Phenomenal Handclap Band's You’ll Disappear sends me traveling through the smoke rings of time back to 70’s psychedlic funk. Groovy, I liiiikee.

You Animal. Come On. What Does This Remind You Of?

Watched the My Morning Jacket Okonokos DVD tonight and forgot how amazing it was. Reasons I love MMJ? Besides the infectious guitar riffs, bangin' drums and electrifying piano solos, the set looks like a crazy jungle swamp with stuffed owls keeping watch on the band's equipment. Also, it is completely normal for fans to be rockin' killer costumes for the occasion. Anywhere it's in the norm to sport fairy wings or bear costumes I'm totally downnn. Some people might find it odd that the video starts off with a short film leading to the concert where a man in a top hot brings an alpaca to the concert. I say the weirder the better. Touche My Morning Jacket. Gideon was the first song I ever heard by them and is the reason I became such a fan so I thought I'd share.

Run Thru, featured below, is one of their most highly anticipated tracks to hear performed live for the jammin' guitar breakdown. Pretty much unreal.

Born on a day the sun didn't rise, you're the apple of my eye. I'd love to be with you and the sun will rise.

Black Moth Super Rainbow deserves a two part post for this one. Their song Sun Lips sends you in a trance like state. Go watch the sunrise on the nearest roof and throw this on...you may see things a whole lot clearer. Sun lips is a hopefully haunting tune that will leave you lusting for the feel of summertime sun.

Black Moth Super Rainbow's counter track Born On A Day The Sun Didn't RIse is equally catchy but leaves you in a dark and dreary daydream. With lyrics talking about being being born into a world without sunshine. Lisening to it gives me a guilty pleasure like doing something you know is wrong with no chance of getting caught. Both songs are sure to leave you in a psychedelic haze.

Moats and boats and waterfalls, Alley-ways and pay phone calls, I've been everywhere with you

Edward Sharp and the Magnificent Zero's created the iIdeal road trippin' song. Perfect match for a stoney drive through the mountains on the way home for break.
It's like you get homesick for a place that doesn't exist. I mean it's like this rite of passage, you know. You won't have this feeling again until you create a new idea of home for yourself, you know, for your kids, for the family you start, it's like a cycle or something. I miss the idea of it. Maybe that's all family really is. A group of people who miss the same imaginary place.

Call you closer to my arms, you'll feel better when you're warm

Toro y Moi is on top of the chill wave movement. His track Talamak explores soothing soundscapes that are smooth as butter.

Took a tripp on a stereo song, driftinngg alongg with the radio onnn

Although there will never be a song that comes close to comparing to The Beatles' Strawberry fields, Apples In Stereo delivers a modern day homage to the song in Strawberry Fire that will definitely leave you in a trippy dream like state. Spark one up, turn off your mind, relax and float down streammm. Guaranteed to create a kailedoscopic strawberry design in her mind.

Sound the alarm, order the attack.

Thievery Corporation's new album Radio Retaliation is full of spunky grooves that automatically loosen the body and awaken the senses. Try this song on for size when sippin' your coffee. You just might discover you're a morning person and start to stroll with a little hop in your step.

Lights and music on my miiinnddd

The Moulinex remix of Cut Copy's Lights and Music sends me into orbit. Put your shades on as you enter into a whole new galaxy. Rave on.

Hendrix would be proud

Rodrigo y Gabriella are killlinnn ittt on their track Buster Voodoo. I don't know how their fingers aren't set ablaze. They rock it it the hard way.

Down on my back looking up at stars at night

Discovery’s Swing Tree. Enjoy. Go Star gazing and melt your ears off.

And the moon shines bright on the water tonight, so we won't drown in the summer sound

Yeasayer's 2080 bring out the nner hippie love child in me and puts me on a dock dancing barefoot. You gotta wait till the end on this one. An unexpected twist will give you the extra push you need to jump in and get your feet wet.

You had a new dream, it was more like a nighmare.

After just getting out of the hospital this song kind of hit home for me. Antler's Two isn't the cheeriest of songs but lifes not always sunshines and fucking rainbows. Also, I'm really diggin' the bubble blowing guitar.

Living in your dreams and influence speech

Don't listen to unless your convertible top's down and your hair's blowing in the wind. jonathan Boulet's A Community Service Announcement is a dreamy feel good song for sure.

They can say the most wonderful words that you just don't understand

Gui Boratto's No Turning Back really made me want to skip rocks by a stream. Damn, it's been wayyy too long. Takes some time to build up but you won't regret the investment.

So stop a while, sit indian style and let the lesson begin.

Phenomenal Handclap Band's All Of The Above incorporates a wide variety of diverse instruments giving it an classic rock old school feel. Wait for the straight blues jam out at the end. Awesome.
