We call THAT a joint

Mindblowing video. Sure to take you to great heights as you enter the Dr. Seuss-esque wonderland. Out of this word animation that flows perfectly with the music.

So help yourself and stay a while, and listen to how loud this thing can howl

Sure to cure a case of the monday blues.

So follow us, you animals
And jump the line, the night is ours
Scratch at the door, your name is not on the list
Come on show us your fangs
What kind of jungle is this?

Party in the moonlight and dance for the sunrise

Listened to this after going to see the midnight premiere of Tron. Was still living in a digitalized dreamworld. It was foggy, creating an eerie atmosphere for the long drive home on the mountain roads which made hugging every curve that much more exciting. Felt it was more than apropriate for the Lunar Eclipse tonight! Here's a few more to set the mood while you watch the great gig in the sky. See you all on the Dark Side of the Moon.

Giant steps are what you take
Walking on the moon
I hope my legs don't break
Walking on the moon
We could walk forever
Walking on the moon
We could live together
walking on the moon.

Lost is the long and loneliest town fairy sybil flying.
All along the, all along the mountains of the moon..
Hey, Tom Banjo it's time to matter,
The earth will see you on through this time.

Walking On Air

Feel it, breathe it, believe it and you'll be walking on air.
Tightroping through the clouds on this one. Armin never fails at putting out one trance phenomenon after another.

It’s morning and I open my eyes. All things are still the same...but I forgot your name

Infectious beat.

Something's turning up in the air, keeps me turning around, history reminding...

Where's North From Here?

Being obsessed with the Gorillaz, I naturally am in love with every song they've ever made. However, I didn't fully appreciate their song Glitter Freeze until it was 4 am and I was pouncing from one frozen grassy knoll to another watching the sparkling snow beneath my feet crunch and glisten brightly from the reflection of the almost full moon. The stars looked like reachable gems shining on the newly frosted pond that was patterned like clouded leopard print, still not completely frozen over. I was immune to the cold letting the music take me over and lead me to my next adventure on this icy tundra. I was then stepping on cookies and cream, jumping from muddy tire tracks to huge blocks of glassy ice crystals that had formed. Shadows started to surround the pond and the milk weeds were dancing together, swaying in the breeze. Darkness grew near. I knew I had reached the edge of the forest as the trees were starting to tower over me. The song ended and the ship had set sail. I knew I was ready for the next journey...

Submerge yourself into the ocean of white

Tonight will commence with an odyssey
Into the deep unknown.
The underwater world is a metaphor.
The concept of depth Is the reference
To the Purity of your mind.
We will explore the spiritual abyss, within Ourselves.
Welcome to... SENSATION

Sensation White had to be the best night of my life hands down. I've been dreaming of submerging into the ocean of white since it first started in 2000, but never though it would become a reality. It just so happens my spring break trip to Newcastle miraculously happened to fall on the same dates as the first edition of SENSATION BELGIUM. Not only did I have the best fine chocolates, waffles and weed of my life, but hours later, I was dressed head to toe in white making my way to the train station for the epic journey. It didn't set in what kind of adventure I was about to embark on until the train doors opened. As I entered, EVERYONE aboard was in white chanting to the beat of Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes, standing on the seats dancing, music shaking straight to the soul. We were an hour and a half from the event but the ride was half the fun. We all exited, still getting down as we made our way to the arena moving our ruckus to the streets, followed by thousands of more bodies creating a colossal sea of white. I blinked my eyes and we were there, surrounded by floating, glowing jellyfish dangling from the ceiling and flashing water jets spraying up hundreds of feet into the air perfectly in sync with the rhythm. As I looked around, the 40,000 others were just as starry-eyed as me, all of us united in white. All of the DJ sets were unreal, but the defining song of the night for me was when Armin Van Buuren played Serenity. Something magical happened when that song came on and the whole crowd was put into reverie. Here's a video of the trailer from the Sensation Belgium edition to help bring these words to life. I'll leave you all with the song that changed everything for me, making me never want to come up for a breath of air. If I had it my way, I would definitely grow some gills and live happily ever after under this sea of white.

SOO epic.

Acting funny and I don't know whyyy,'scuse me while I kiss the sky

Benny pumpin' the bass remixing Jimi's classic purple haze at Electric Daisy Carnival. I mean no remix is going to do Jimi justice, but the set and light shows he puts on makes the performance well worth while. So sad I missed this but still rocking out to it wearing my new Hendrix limited edition converse kicks. Merry Christmas to me!

She says I'm not romantic, I say she's too dramatic. I tell her while were at it, we can work it Night by night

There couldn't of been a better time to be first introduced to this song. Last halloween, after Hard Haunted mansion, the 50,000 people rave at the Shrine Coliseum in LA, it was 4 am and everyone was still ready to party. We managed to stumble our way to an after party. The house was fairly large, but seemingly empty. I Heard the faint sounds of bass coming from a room down the hall and followed the music to a dark room illuminated only by glowsticks with a few people giving light shows and the other 30 troops cuddle puddled together laying on the bed and surrounding floor. Everyone was still in costume and grooving to their own beat. When this song came on shuffle today, I got chills thinking about that night and had to share.

Cover Wednesday

Happy Hump Day. Phish doing a great cover of the Talking Heads classic Cities.

Legalize it, don't criticize it

The French film Cannabis, which was released in the US under the title French Intrigue, has one of the most incredible soundtracks as a whole I've ever heard. This 21 track masterpiece takes you on a soundscape full of funky guitar riffs and hypnotizing harpsichord strums. This album touches on so many emotions, mindfully weaving you in and out of a time warp that seems impressively endless.

Thundercrack, baby's back. This time she'll tell you how she reallyyy feels.

"You gotta buy stretch socks. Worst thing is playing with your socks down... nothing worse than that!"
I've been raised with Springsteen in my blood. He's been my dad's idol his whole life and ironically enough, they even share the same name. Anytime we would get in an argument I would run upstairs and throw on my "The only boss I listen to" t-shirt just to get under his skin. All the long drives cross country listening to E street radio at volume level 54 (because you can't fully appreciate the aesthetic value unless it's at LEAST at notch 54) and concerts I've been to over the years have given me a great appreciation for Springsteen (Not that I have much of a choice in the matter.) Besides the fact he has come out with songs that define a generation and will be played forever, what I love most is his character and how he reaches out to the people. To quote one of my favorite movies of all time, Almost Famous, He "looks for the one guys in the crowd who's not getting off and makes them get off." Someone like my dad...who by day is an old fashioned, tightly wound working class man who's composure is always so serious and expressions stoic but by night comes alive and starta shouting "come on, rise up!" pumping his fist at the sky to Mary's Place. Alot of great musicians get so wrapped up in the coils of fame that they forget about the people. The fans who got them where they are today. Springsteen recognizes this and even with his superstar status, his concert tickets are always affordable to the working class everyday people. He could charge hundreds of dollars for seats to his shows and his tickets would still sell out. But that's not the point. He wants anyone who supports him to be able to come out and help build the house of rock and roll on stage with him.

"Take me disappearing through the smoke rings of my mind"

Sail into the Sun

When I first came across The Funky Lowlives I was intrigued by the name, but shortly after giving them a listen I was hooked. Jammed out to this cruising on a cable car through the hills of San Fran and was put in a dreamy daze by the soothing vocals and catchy bassline. Perfect downtempo just kickin' it kinddaa music.

Can't get enough of that Ratatat-tat

Just another reason to LOVE Ratatat. They are the only band who's ever had the honor of being invited to play inside the world-renowned Guggenheim Museum in New York. They rocked the rotunda producing metal-electro beats filling the museum (and people's chests) with pulsating drum beats and mind numbing guitar slides.Funky art and groovy tunes go together almost as well as warm chocolate chip cookies and a tall glass of milk. And that's a tough order to fill!

It was 30 years ago today...

Not the day Sergeant Pepper taught the band to play but the sad day the legend Lennon left us to join Lucy in the sky with diamonds. For anyone who likes ANY genre of music, I guarantee their works were inspired in some way by this man. So many of The Beatles' songs define memories throughout my life. Whether playing Strawberry Fields on repeat every day after school in the senior parking lot or waking up every morning and not rolling out of bed until Here Comes the Sun plays entirely through or painting Jellyfish on the remains of an abondoned building in the middle of the woods as soon as I am the Walrus came on, these songs have become a part of me. I can remember stonily looking up every influential person on the Sergeant Pepper's Album Cover which hangs proudly above my bed and being blown away when I visited Liverpool and saw the real Penny Lane and got to see where these guys first played at the Cavern Club. Here's a tribute to a man that changed our world for the better. My Guitar Gently Weeps for you on this day, but you will still be remembered Across the Universe and will live in our hearts forever.

With flowers and my love both never to come back.

Some killer covers to get you through hump day. If you've never heard of Grace Potter beofre, you are in for a realll treat. Just listen to this and she will be sure to have you screaming Amazing Grace by the end. She is known for her exceptional live performances, most notably for when she's blowing minds at some of the most renowned music festivals around the country.

Glaciers have melted the sea, I wish the tide would take me over.

I'm sure all of you have heard enough talk about how incredible the Gorillaz album, Plastic Beach, is so I won't bore you with the details. On the other hand, what you might not be aware of is the fact that the Gorillaz have another album in the works! Most of the recording was said to be done while playing around on an Ipad during downtime chillin' at hotels while the band was on tour. It is projected to be out by Christmas! Here's a haunting cover they did on BBC sessions of the xx's song Crystalised that has been blowing up the indie scene to entice your palate as we wait for their newest masterpiece.
