You've got a mouthful of diamonds and a pocket full of secrets

Am I underground or am I in too deep?

Phantogram's fantastically named EP, Eyelid Movies, has been creating such a stir in the music world leaving us all thirsting for more, anxiously awaiting the release of their debut album Street Beats. It's hard for me to compare any new trip hop artist to the likings of Zero 7, for most would do them no justice, but Phantogram has really rattled my bones with their intoxicating and effortless flow. Singer-keyboardist Sarah Barthel and guitarist Josh Carter produce a rustic feel with their recordings being produced in a barn creating serpentine sounds, drifting through waves of synth wash and buzzy backdrops vocals. Until February when their album is expected to drop, I'll leave you all with these gems in the meantime.

Why did they let the turkey join the band?

Because he had the best drumsticks! Throw this one on after your turkey induced coma. It will be sure to ease you righttt into the peaceful nap you need before more beer and football.

"Just lay back and groove on a rainy day."

Heard this while waiting for the rain to pass all cozied up in a groovy San Fransisco cafe with a hazelnut latte in hand. It was the perfect song for staring out the window and watching the funky eccentric passerbys bustle around town.

Just need a place where I can lay my head.

My boy Jim James from My Morning Jacket joins The Band? Priceless.

My head is slippin' mind is trippin' conciousness that I was grippin' slowly fades away into the night

If you've seem to hit a musical rut with all of these seemingly endless synthesized remixes of songs starting to blend into one, I've got just the remedy. I can promise you He's My Brother, She's My Sister will deliver you with a funky fresh sound unlike anything you've ever heard. With a groovy retro feel and an emphasis on fun, this new band mixes western folk with blues and rock reminiscent of the old times. They put the cherry on top with some sweet tap dancing moves that will be sure to leave you click-clankin' your heels. What I love? They haven't lost sight of what the music is really about. They don't try to fit into a "cool" stereotype but let loose and let the good times roll sharing their good vibes with anyone who has the pleasure of listening to them.

Tell me whyyyyy

This song reminds me of the first time I ever had the pleasure of taking a five hour energy. I was a bit hesitant at first to consume this foreign liquid was the best of ideas but I couldn't seem to silence the voice inside my head saying, "Drink me." I wasn't sure what to expect when all of a sudden, I was feeling as if I could climb Everest twice and still be ready for more. This song produced a similar effect on me. As soon as the beat dropped, I turned into Forest Gump and just kept ruunninnn'.

Your eyes are like my mirrors when you let me stare into them and if I look for long it always seems that I find myself within your dreams

The Disco Biscuits never fail to deliver incredible jam sessions to their devout fan base. In my opinion, their albums do them absolutely no justice for their full potential can only be truly appreciated when they are melting sweaty crowds' faces off during their shows. They are such a high energy band live and have some of the coolest sets out in the industry. Mirrors is one of my favorite out of their newer stuff. This clip from Red Rocks captures a true concert experience with their trippy glowing backup dancers stealing the spotlight and making you escape reality wondering if you are dreaming or how you somehow ended up at a Cirque Du Soleil show.

"This is a ton of freaky people in one place!"

You got that right. I wish more than anything I could have been one of those freaks! Lotus brought down the house at Starscape closing their set with my favorite song of theirs Bellwether featuring vocals that are comparable to Daft Punk's classic Technologic. Their new album Hammerstrike delivers a mix of indie-inspired piano with original electronic genius.
